The Battery Camp 2023
Where Pitchers and Catchers learn the game within the game
A strong team relies on a powerful bond, effective communication, and the ability to read each other’s body language, all fueled by a robust battery of skills and cooperation.
The Battery IS the example of these traits for the rest of the team to feed off.
This synergy among team members fosters better collaboration and enhances overall team performance, ultimately leading to greater success.

Hi! I'm Coach Amanda Smith

I’m putting on this camp because The Battery is one of the most important relationships in the game AND no one teaches how to be in this relationship. Coaches expect players to understand the intricacies of the relationship, then do nothing to teach them what it actually involves.
I had the unique opportunity to learn both pitching and catching most of my softball career. I practiced both positions at the D1 school I went to. Then, I ended my career at a D2 school as just a pitcher with an amazing pitching coach.
Don Pettrow taught me how to practice like a pitcher so my game would be even stronger. He taught me and my catcher what the relationship should look like. How to read each other’s body language and help each other be better at our respective positions because of our unique view and vantage point.
Now I get to share those teachings and more with you! I’m excited to teach your player the deeper parts of the game that involve skill, and go way beyond skill into the mental game. The game within the game and this relationship within the game. Because when The Battery is powerful, magic happens for everyone.
